Legislators want to hear from LGBTQ Iowans, and transgender Iowans in particular. That’s why we’re building a Speakers Bureau of trained LGBTQ Iowans and allies who are equipped with the skills to speak publicly and start meaningful dialogues about LGBTQ issues.

We developed our Speakers Bureau training curriculum with One Iowa Action board member Jack Schuler, a transgender activist and accomplished public speaker. These trainings aim to empower LGBTQ Iowans and allies to share their stories in impactful ways, whether they’re testifying at a legislative hearing or talking to their neighbor down the street. After you’ve completed our training, we may ask you to speak at legislative hearings or participate in small, private group discussions with legislators.
