Max Mowitz, Executive Director

Max Mowitz is a lifelong advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and the liberation of all marginalized peoples. Since coming out in high school, Max’s leadership and activism focuses on community and coalition building, solidarity, and compassionate community education. Max is the Executive Director of One Iowa and One Iowa Action, leading both statewide LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations focused on uplifting and empowering LGBTQ+ Iowans. Prior to their leadership of the organization, Max served as the Program Director for five years, building One Iowa’s programming, direct service and community education efforts.

Keenan Crow, Director of Policy and Advocacy

Keenan has been active in Iowa politics since 2010 when they interned with Chris Hall’s campaign for Iowa State Representative. Since then, they have been involved with several nonprofit organizations including Planned Parenthood of the Heartland and Cedar Valley Citizens for Undoing Racism. They were also involved in One Iowa’s campus group at the University of Northern Iowa. Keenan obtained a BA in Political Communications and a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Northern Iowa. They were a 2018 New Leaders Council fellow.

Maddy is a Des Moines native and graduated from Grand View University with degrees in Political Science and History. She found her passion for creating change and organizing after Donald Trump spoke at her high school. She comes to One Iowa after working on several of progressive campaigns, and running organizing programs for other non-profits. When she’s not organizing she can be found making vegetarian feasts, reading horror novels, and taking photos of her cats, Frankie, Finn, and Flora.
