On Tuesday, September 18, One Iowa Action released its first round of candidate endorsements for the upcoming election. This is the first time the organization has made electoral endorsements in several years.
“We’ve been preparing to get back into the electoral sphere for over a year,” One Iowa Action Executive Director Daniel Hoffman-Zinnel said. “The current political climate is hostile and uncertain for LGBTQ Iowans, particularly transgender and non-binary Iowans. There is a critical need for us to leverage our organization’s resources to ensure candidates who support the LGBTQ community are elected to our state’s government.”
“Our chosen candidates are committed to fighting for LGBTQ Iowans, and we will fight for them in turn. We call on all LGBTQ Iowans and allies to do everything in their power to make sure these strong advocates are elected on November 6.”
One Iowa Action’s endorsed candidates are:
- Fred Hubbell, Iowa Governor
- Deidre DeJear, Iowa Secretary of State
- Megan Srinivas, Iowa House District 9
- Kristin Sunde, Iowa House District 42
- Jennifer Konfrst, Iowa House District 43
- Liz Bennett, Iowa House District 65
- Molly Donahue, Iowa House District 68
